Rotary 4 way test stands alone in the realm of business ethics with its own superb feature and strength. Perhaps it is the most used, printed, and quoted texts in the world when it comes to the practice of norms and values in the business. Herbert J Taylor, however, is the architect of this concept. It’s a simple code of ethics that consists of merely 24 words. Herbert Taylor served as the president of Rotary International from 1954 to 1955.

The 4 way test was approved by the Rotary International in 1943. The test subsequently has been translated in more than one hundred languages that attain a huge popularity. Here is the English version of the brief ethical codes:

“Of the things we think, say, or do:

1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build good will and better friendship?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?”
